How do you want to feel?
During your first appointment, we will discuss your current health needs and your goals for the future. Your current needs will be addressed immediately (see Your Health)
Next, we can work at a deeper level to bring a greater sense of
vibrancy and freedom to your life.
Vibrancy is your natural state of being in the moment.
Freedom is understanding your internal programming enough to make conscious change.
How it works:
Qi Code - Much of our "programming" occurs early in our life. We spend the rest of it deprogramming and reprogramming this code.
Mindfulness - Observe this programming by bringing awareness to how thoughts and actions affect our energy.
Be Radical - Love thyself! Acceptance lays the groundwork for true health to emerge.
Somatic Acupuncture - Experience your own Qi Code and reprogram yourself.
If your goals include feeling more freedom and control over your health, the answer lies in understanding what I call your Qi Code. When you understand how unconscious programming controls your energy and health, you have the ability to make change.
We exist as a multi-layered energy system (mind, body, emotions, spirit). All levels must be attended to for true health to emerge.
Let's say the superficial layer is your body. Acupuncture, Tui Na, Chinese herbal medicine and Food Medicine all attend very well to these layers.
We can coax, call, and cajole your body back "into whack."
The root of imbalance is often due to underlying programming or patterns of mind and emotions that continue to throw the system "out of whack."
How do you respond to a challenge? Do you hold onto things or regularly let them go? What makes you angry ... why?
Understanding your inner programming involves decoding how you respond to stimulus/stress. Techniques to get you there are mindfulness, radical acceptance, and Somatic Acupuncture.
Mindfulness is about paying attention.
For most of us most of the time, we are in our heads. Always thinking about something. This is generally something that happened in the past or something that may or may not happen in the future.
At its basic level, mindfulness brings us away from thinking, to observing the present moment.
The value of this practice cannot be overstated in bringing about health and wellbeing. The more we notice the sensations that occur in our bodies in different situations (increased/decreased energy, for example), the more we can begin to modify behavior to enliven and heal.
When we fully engage in the present moment, we can "escape" the stresses of life, bring greater focus to our work, and develop a clearer understanding of how our thinking and actions cause imbalance in the body.
From this level of awareness, great possibilities for change emerge.
Love thyself! This is a radical statement. How often do you spend time wishing things were different, or criticizing your own behavior?
I'm promoting radical self-acceptance and radical acceptance of "what is."
Radical self-acceptance is about taking full responsibility for who we are right now. Why? Because that's who we are right now and it cannot be any other way.
No, not even if you did that thing last week or last year that would have made things different. You didn't, so this is where we are.
Radical acceptance of what is is taking full responsibility for everything as it is right now. Why? Because it couldn't be any different - in this moment - than it is.
This doesn't mean that we drop passion or desire to move our lives in a particular direction. It does mean that right now this is the way that it is. Period.
This radical behavior, when truly practiced, allows for a deep sense of peace and serenity to emerge.
When the whining stops, just for a moment, a wider awareness takes hold, which brings with it the possibility for true happiness and true change.
From a treatment perspective, we can find and amplify this moment with Somatic Acupuncture.
Somatic Acupuncture treatment takes us to a deep energetic level where the emotions govern.
Combining the art of acupuncture with somatic bodywork, we can find where emotional triggers are held in the body. Once found, we can retrain, reprogram, or release them so that we may be freer to recognize and be our deepest selves.
We work directly with the Autonomic Nervous System to understand what your body is programmed to perceive as a threat. With guidance, you are able to reprogram that response and take away the power of that unconscious conditioning.
When we release ourselves from old patterns that cause energy to be disordered, the result is an amazing feeling of vitality and "aliveness" that can’t be ignored.
It is something that you and your body will continue to search for. The seed is planted and will grow with your own nourishment, beyond any treatment that we do together.
