Therapeutic bodywork is about clinical results.
My work is integrative, meaning I combine multiple modalities, tailored to your personal needs.
Integrative also means that while I assess your body from a structural point of view,
I also look at the state of your "qi," (pronounced chee) or "vital energy."
A pain-free body has a free flow of this life giving energy.
Pain and dysfunction result when qi stagnates.
The goal of my work is to unblock the flow of qi, which in turn relieves pain in all its forms (physical, emotional, spiritual).
Traditional Chinese medicine is wholistic, viewing the body, mind, and spirit as one system.
Together we can work on these levels simultaneously, exposing the root cause of the problem, and creating the possibility of long term healing.
The main modalities that I utilize are Chinese Tui Na, Acupressure, Deep Tissue, Polarity Therapy, Reflexology, and Craniosacral Therapy:
- Tui Na - (Chinese Medical Massage)-A traditional form of active release technique. It is invigorating and relaxing.
Tui Na (Push-Pull) opens the meridian system of the body to release stagnation and move qi.
The result is pain relief and greater range-of-motion.
Tui Na helps to remove scar tissue from recent and old injuries, relieves chronic pain, and energizes the entire system.
- Acupressure & Trigger Points - Deliberate pressing of acu-points and trigger points on the body to stimulate and mobilize qi.
Particular acu-points are chosen depending on the client's state of health and well being. Trigger points are found and held until the small muscle contractions release.
- Deep Tissue - Slow, deliberate, and deep strokes on specific muscles. Breaks up deep layers of muscle and fascia (connective tissue) to release long held restrictions. Improves the structural alignment of the body.
- Polarity Therapy - Light bodywork based on the Indian Ayurvedic concept of how energy, or "prana", flows in the body. Highly effective at releasing tension, pain, and anxiety, especially as each relates to emotional blockages and spiritual unrest.
- Reflexology - Working directly with the hands or feet benefits the whole body. The hands, feet, ears, and other parts of the body can be seen as a microcosm of the whole body. Points in these areas "reflect" energy back to the organs and major structures of the body.
- Craniosacral - Very subtle balancing of the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. This fluid pulses through the cranium and down around the spinal cord to the sacrum in a rhythmic motion that is distinct from the other rhythms in our bodies. With a very light touch, restrictions in this movement are released and the fluid is able to flow more freely, which in turn leads to greater health and wellbeing.
Any of the above modalities might be utilized for your benefit. You may also request for one of them to be used primarily, or not at all. |
